Inclusion

Oakmere Primary School aims to be the heart of our diverse community where children’s strengths and differences are acknowledged, represented and celebrated.
We make every effort to provide for children’s differing needs and abilities and are careful to ensure that all children have the opportunity to do their best.
Our school is a large site and can be made accessible to disabled people. Our staff are well trained to handle the medical needs of the children in their care.
Excellent support is offered to children who have additional learning and emotional needs and our team work closely with external advisers to ensure all appropriate adjustments are made. The school invests in therapeutic support workers to help support the Well-being and Mental Health of all our children.
We work with our caterers to provide special diets for children who need them. If you or your child requires any special arrangements, please discuss these with us.
If you are concerned about your child’s learning, or if your child has a disability, the first person to see is your child’s class teacher. She/he will discuss your concerns with the Inclusion team to determine what course of action (if any) is required. We try to have an open-door policy but if the teacher is unable to see you immediately, you can phone or come in to make an appointment with the class teacher. There is also the opportunity to discuss any issues at parent consultation evening.
